Field Notes

Description:

A very colorful species of nudibranch. Up to 3" long, though this specimen was only about 0.75" long. Toxic nematocysts on the end of their feathery tentacles. They are apparently quite aggressive, with different individuals fighting over territory.

Habitat:

Found during low tide on the southern coast of Oregon in a very rocky area. A number of nudibranchs were found in the area, but they can be very difficult to photograph through the water.
