Description:

A sphragis-bearing female Parnassius mnemosyne. Sphragis (from Greek σφραγίς 'seal') or mating plug is constructed by the males after mating in order to prevent the females from remating and thus protecting their paternity.

Habitat:

Deciduous forest clearing.
