Field Notes

Description:

A bright red flower in amongst the sand dunes on the bend of the Onkaparinga river estuary, this part of the river is tidal, at this time of day water was flowing out to sea. This is a ground cover plant, sending out runners to spread.

sand dunes, river estuary

I just posted a photo of the first K. nigrans I ever saw (which is what temped me into yet another folly in growing non-Tasmanian plants in our yard, although, admittedly, some mainland plants do manage to hang on) . http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6981022
Kennedia nigrans, is a beautiful plant, very striking, you did well to get it to grow at all
Nice. I've never actually seen one. I had a Kennedia nigrans for awhile, but it didn't like the frosts.
