Field Notes

Description:

Perennial plant although evergreen in this zone. Long tail-like stems covered in dense needles that are relatively soft. Small sweet smelling white flowers that are hard to see but bright red colored berries.

Habitat:

Backyard in part shade with regular water.

Notes:

Aka asparagus fern, emerald fern, basket asparagus, false asparagus

Thank you for the info! I went ahead and added the common names in the notes section. I agree about the prickly part. We added it for the reason you mentioned, filler!
I was going to say sometimes it's called false asparagus. That's the name we use for it here. :) Not my favourite plant - too prickly for my tastes but it's a a good filler! Sorry, gardener-speak! Nice photo, especially with the berries. :)
