I have had a similarly bad reaction to morels as well as other supposedly edible fungi, so now I just take pictures of them and admire the way they look.
Hmm, well it sounds like your bases are covered. Could it have been another ingredient eaten around the same time? I hope I never develop a sensitivity to morels... What a curse! ;)
phidauex, I can ID morels, I have eaten them many times, one of the last ones I ate is seen in my profile photo. It's possible they were under-cooked, but I wonder if I developed a sensitivity. I ate morels 2x this spring. The first time I had fever and chills ~3 hrs after eating, the second time resulted in vomiting.
Assuming they were real morels, rather than false morels (which do look fairly distinct, but can sometimes be confused), then make sure that the morels are thoroughly cooked before eating - they, like many edible mushrooms, contain compounds that can make you ill (usually not dangerous, just unpleasant) that are destroyed by heating.
Scott, I read that they are edible. I'm leery of trying edible mushrooms now. Last time i ate morels I had a violent reaction.
You're welcome. There's a dead tree near me that has a crop of those mushrooms every year. I guess people eat the tender edges of the caps, although that's something I haven't tried.
