Field Notes

Description:

Male has a green head with a white ring on it's neck. The body has a rusty breast and gray body. Female is mottled brown and white. Ducklings are drown with subdued yellow markings.

Habitat:

Very widely distributed throughout North America. This species will inhabit the smallest body of water from roadside ditches to the largest lakes such as the Great Lakes.

Notes:

These Mallards were swimming in a city park pond in the middle of the city's business district.
