Could be an orb weaver.
Sorry Apple - All I got was this shot . I was wading in water and this spider was hanging from a tree that was hanging over the water. I could only get one photo. Wish I had its back. All I know is that it was big and it was eating a large dragonfly.
Great spotting! It looks like an orb weaver probably a European Garden Spider (actually popular in N. America). Do you have any photos of the coloring on the top of the spider?
