Field Notes

Description:

Some shots of this tiny, hipphopping fellow. For once NOT hiding in a bush.

These two fellows were rather cooperative.

Most tiny birds were already having their beaks wide open. Not for food intake or singing, but rather for ‘ventilation’. So called air conditioning against the beginning heat.

The Willow Warbler looks very similar to the Common Chiffchaff, but has a more distinct, pale supercilium (‘eyebrow’) and also has usually pale legs (only a few odd birds have darker legs), also mark the pale cheek patch and the cleaner look of the underparts.

The bird is a whole whopping 11-12cm long, so you need good eyesight to spot him at all, unless he sits somewhere in the open.

Infos from the Collins Bird Guide.

Habitat:

Golf course during migration
