Notes:

This population of orchids had 9 individuals 5 years ago. Two years ago someone "collected" 6 of them, leaving only holes in the ground. No orchids at all came up in this location this year. This orchid is not endangered or threatened in Massachusetts, but it's certainly vulnerable to collecting.

Great pictures - it is a shame about the collecting - it would be nice if more people collected with a camera than with a shovel. Lasts longer that way, too. :)
