Field Notes

Description:

Wingspan up to 140mm. The wings are a rich orange and appear hairy. The hind wings have a large black ring, with a blue and orange center forming the appearance of an eye. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of Eucalyptus trees. This is a male.

Left for me this morning (on my keyboard) by my partner.

Thanks Tiz. It's moth season here - they're thumping themselves against the windows in the evening and tucked away in shady spots during the day.
