Field Notes

Description:

The female is molted brown with black and white mixed in. The chest is lighter. The head is more of a solid light brown. The male is much more striking with a solid white chest and and darker head.

Habitat:

Spotted these female Pintails feeding in the mud flats at the Nisqually estuary along the boardwalk trail as the tide was out.
