Description:

The northern bald ibis is native to the Middle East, northern Africa and southern Europe. Once this species had a widespread distribution, but today this bird is critically endangered with only around 500+ remaining in the wild. There are actually around eight times more individuals in captivity than found in the wild at present.

Notes:

This individual was photographed in captivity, in Colchester Zoo.
