:D I plan to be in Turkey again in a few years!
I was in Cappadocia last summer. I wish I had seen one of these with the extra feathers. I saw pigeon-holes excavated into rock walls hundreds of years ago that picgeons are still living in. It was lovely.
wow, this is fantatic. In Turkey, it's a tradition to breed pigeons, check this one, those are Mardin pigeons (in turkish: Mardin Güvercini) http://dergiweb.com/inc/rDA/N/mardin_guvercini_091130210503.jpg
This pigeon shows one of the genetic variants that occurs in nature, i.e. feathers going down the legs and starting to cover the feet, that breeders use to make fancy pigeons with huge feathers covering their feet. See this (crazy!) example: http://www.pigeonfarms.com/Fancy_Pigeons_For_Sale.html
