Description:
A diver's slate smaller than the pied-billed grebe, is distinguished by the white wing patches (often hidden), the blankets from under the dark tail, beak black, thin, pointed, and the eyes are gold. In winter the throat is white.
Habitat:
Lakes, rivers, ponds, mainly at low altitudes.
