Field Notes

Description:

I decided to put a question mark bc there are supposedly over 750 varieties of Russula however from the pictures I've looked at it comes closest to Russula aurea. Although it WAS found in deciduous forest, that particular mushroom is supposed to be found in Europe so I don't know how it would be here on Long Island.

Habitat:

Forest, Springtime

From what little is visible in this picture, it might be a Russula sp.
