Description:

Broad-wingeds are small buteo hawks with a body length of between 35 to 45 cm (13 to 18 in); wingspan is 80 to 100 cm (32 to 40 in). Adults have dark brown upper parts and evenly spaced black and white bands on the tail. Females are larger than males.

Habitat:

Forested areas.
