Field Notes

Description:

Red on top, black ventrally. Black face as well, femora have a little red but quickly transition to black. Coxa and trochanter are completely red.

Habitat:

Field

Notes:

I noticed this assassin bug in a field, feeding on another insect and became super excited. Its colors looked similar to a boxelder bug--orange/red/black, so I attempted to creep closer to it. Unfortunately, I probably ended up running like a maniac at it since I was so excited. So of course, it drops down a bit into the vegetation and eludes me.
