Description:

Nonnative invasive species that feeds on algae, detritus, and small organisms on the bottom.

Habitat:

Edge of the head spring near deeper water and vegetation for cover.

Notes:

Mouth-brood young - eggs hatch and live in female's mouth, coming out to feed and hide in mouth when threatened to about three weeks old. .
