Spotted near Lawrencetown beach off the coast of Nova Scotia, wading not too far from the shore. Taken with Canon Rebel EOS XS w/ EF-S 55-250mm IS Zoom Lens.

great self-determination...that makes sense. I saw several when I went to Destin, FL a few weeks ago. They were very cool indeed flying.
Yes! And the site of them soaring above you in the sky, with their long legs trailing behind their body, is breath-taking. It does not surprise me that in North American Native traditional storytelling, these birds were symbolic of great self-determination.
Isn't it awesome to see these birds fly and suddenly dive for a fish?
