Description:

The yellow-edged moray is found along drop-offs in coral or rocky areas of reef flats and protected shorelines to seaward reefs. It feeds on cephalopods, fishes, and crustaceans.

Habitat:

found in the Indo-Pacific oceans

Notes:

Spotted this guy on a dive trip in Bali, the dive site was called Crystal bay, The water visibility was about 25 metres. Living up to its name for truly crystal waters!

Laura thanks so much for the new ID. You are right! I automatically thought it was a giant moray due to his size. I didn't realise eye colour can change the species ha ha. Good spotting with the eyes. I will change this first thing in the morning. Thanks again :)

Hey Sean, this is actually a yellow-edged moray, sometimes called yellow-margin moray :) It has a kind of similar pattern to a giant, but has the orange eyes depicted here (as opposed to the paler eyes of the giant). I'll suggest the ID for you! Great vis, 25m :) Gotta love the tropics.
