Field Notes

Description:

Tail about 3 times the length of body. Body was 5-6 inches long.

Habitat:

On a trail in the rainforest at Jaguar Creek. When it decided that it had the attention of too many giant predators, it quickly ran for shelter in the low shrubs of the forest floor.

Notes:

It was very patient and still while we observed it. Most of the people that were with me stepped over the lizard believing it was a leaf in the trail. Used book for reference...Lee, Julian C. A Field Guide to the Amphibians and Reptiles of the Maya World. Ithaca, NY: Cornell University, 2000.
