Field Notes

Description:

Slender, hairy-stemmed plant having flower heads with drooping yellow ray flower heads and disk flowers forming a cylindrical cone shorter than the rays; grayish cone darkens to brown as ray flowers fall. Flowers June through September.

Habitat:

Grows in dry woods and prairies. Spotted near Tamarac visitor center.
