Description:

These plants popped up in my yard after the rain we just recently had after a few weeks of no rain. They look like grape bunches, but am not sure. Could they be wild grapes?

Habitat:

Totally volunteer, my backyard, clay soil.

This is definitely a pokeweed, Phytolacca sp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pokeweed

OK, I'll see if the berries turn the color in your reference picture and if it does, then you have another ID under your belt. Do you have expertise in the sciences?
