Field Notes

Notes:

I took this photo yesterday, while hiking the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park at an elevation of about 6,500'. As it was an 11 mile hike, and I was BEYOND exhausted when I took it, the details are fuzzy.
The individual clusters are about dime-sized. The area was sparsely wooded, with dappled sunlight.

Thank you Leuba. Now I've learned something new today too!
I've learnt something new today ! If this is buckwheat then you've got 72 members in this Order in Montana alone. I hope you find the one - they are all pretty http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Buckwheats_of_Montana
Sounds good Leuba. I have added a tighter cropped image for more clarity.
Thanks Bonnie. If you don't mind, I will edit your spotting and place your notes in the allocated space above so it goes to make the spotting complete.
Leuba, Thanks so much for your interest. I took this photo yesterday, while hiking the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park at an elevation of about 6,500'. Looks like a buckwheat (Eriogonum sp.) but don't know which species
These look attractive. I wonder if the red specks are individual flowers.. nice ! Could you please write a little about where you found the plant ( Habitat), it's size (approx), leaf structure and anything that might help with an ID (Description). Thanks, Bonnie.
