Yes Ava, she gathers them under wing for protection...I thought that photo was pretty cute with mom appearing to have so many legs. I don't think that was their original scrape...just a depression in the sand.

Thanks everyone! I'm a shorebird chick checker for Audubon. I found the nest and have been following them to fledging. Two out of the three chicks fledged.
