Description:

Bright red Leaf Beetle with black and white elytra, very striking. The hind legs are greatly enlarged for jumping. One cm in length. Family Chrysomelidae, Subfamily Galerucinae, Tribe Alticini.

Habitat:

Forested area, Km 11.5 Highway between Tuxtla Gutierrez and San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico.

Amazing how many Mexican Alticinae are black and white patterns. We have mostly dark metallic blue.
