Field Notes
Description:
Wingspan measures 2 to 2.6 inches (51 to 66 mm). Orange - brown to dark brown with spots. Two bars on each forewing. No black spot on forewing, which helps in identification. The Hackberry emperor does have a black spot on each forewing.
Habitat:
Spotted at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas.
Notes:
Native to eastern half of United States to northern Mexico.
