wow you got him way out in the open the ones around here I've only seen from really far away flying or crouched down in the distance.
If you have older field guides it will list it as Common Snipe, they used to be the same species but were split apart many years ago. Great picture though, way better than any I have of them!
Both of my bird books list a Common snipe for some reason. Others have called it a Wilson's as well.
Common Snipe is very rare in the New World, it is an Old World species bird.
