Field Notes

Description:

Blue and black caterpillar with white spots on its side, an unbroken white line fringed by brown across its back, and thin hairs along its body.

Habitat:

Forest

Notes:

This was the first time I'd really taken a good look at this caterpillar, it's quite pretty. The coloration really surprised me with how vivid it was. I have a higher opinion of the tent caterpillars now. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
