Field Notes

Description:

A very distinctive soaring Eagle with a very short tail. Black, White and Chestnut plumage along with the Bright orange-red beak and bare red area around the eye.

Habitat:

Savanna

Notes:

Bateleur are great soaring Eagles who rarely flap their wings while soaring at height, a slight rocking is all that is needed to keep them going. It is easy to spot in the air as it appears to have little or no tail feathers.
