Field Notes

Notes:

We drove up on this scene near Nkuhlu in Kruger National Park. This lone bull herded a group of cars around for a while and then headed in our direction. I didn't have time to take photos as I was too busy backing down the road. After almost a half kilometer I was forced to stop because of the traffic behind me. I pulled over as far as I could, turned off the engine and watched without moving a muscle as he walked by our vehicle close enough that my wife could have reached out and touched him. She tells everyone to this day that I purposely stopped so that he would be on her side of the car!

Her side of the car or not, this elephant could have done some serious damage to both sides of the car if he chose to. WOW he's massive! Great shot!
