Field Notes

Description:

Female. Medium sized, about 7 cm (~3 in). Brown with dark brown spots. Large parotoid glands. Warts cover back. Light underbelly. Light colored line runs down back.

Habitat:

Anywhere with plentiful insects and moisture. Found in Canada, much of the Northeast and Midwest, and some parts of the South.

Notes:

This toad has become a sort of "pet". She hops up to our deck almost every night and stares through the window looking at our cat. She may come up to our deck since the insects flying around the lights make for easy food, but she always stops for a period of time to go right up against the glass door to look in. We have nicknamed her Lady Francis.
