Description:

An essential component of the ocean ecosystem, Sargassum is very important to the survival of sea turtles. Sea turtles spend the first year of their lives drifting in sargassum rafts. Sargassum also supports a diverse community of marine species by providing food and shelter. SOURCE: www.conserveturtles.org

It looks like a pretty humble weed washed up on shore, but out in blue water it is really beautiful.
