Field Notes

Description:

greyish brown, about 20cm in length, I think this is a northern brown snake but not 100% sure

Habitat:

temperate forest

Notes:

I spotted this snake in a semi wild area a few km up the road from my house. It was curled up resting at the top of a goldenrod plant. It was the first time I've seen a snake resting in a plant like this in N. America. This type of behavior is something I'm more used to seeing in the tropics.

I think it is Karen. I didn't really notice it before. Looks like a type of planthopper or wholly aphid maybe.
Is that some kind of bug just above it's head?
