It was absolutely a chanterelle. On the edge of my driveway is quite a nice clump that shows up every summerr and I assure you they are delicious and very much chanterelle. However, I do have a LARGE yellowish mushroom in the agaricus family among my recent spottings defying ID
hi karen, were the gills running down the stem/stalk !! because my first thought was russula, but i cannot see the gills, therefore i cannot say it for sure, =when it had fairly seperated yellow gills running down the stem -- keep the id =when it had thin gills, close together and straight to the stem -- think about the possibility of an "russula" !!
