Field Notes

Description:

This cute katydid nymph had a body about 5 mm long. It was predominantly brown with white bands on legs. Antennae were about four times the lenght of its body. The tarsi were curled-up which was interesting.
The abdomen looked extremely short in realtion to the thorax and head.

Habitat:

Spotted in an suburban garden.

Notes:

It was amusing to watch this katydid back-off from cobwebs ..

Don't know the ID but I assume it's a second instar of a bush katydid.
