I spotted this on the rainforest floor in Ranomafana national park.

I was thinking that too peter, there's just one detail I can't match. The 'eyes' of my spotting are black circled with brown. All the images I see online are kind of half black and top half brown. Plus the range for Deilephila elpenor doesn't match, but it's definitely very close.
Looks like an Elephant Hawk-moth
