Notes:

Brown and white spotted mushroom about 2" tall. Spotted in a mossy field (with many different mushroom species present) in front of an apartment building in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Yeah, but I wanted to link to that site rather than Wikipedia because it's a great mushroom reference site. Hopefully someone more skilled with the mushrooms can help you out more!

Definitely close, but that mushroom appears to be taller/thinner than the one I spotted, and with a more black/grey colouring. Thank you though, it might get me on the right track. :)
