Field Notes

Description:

Usually low growing perennial but can reach 1 m in height. The berries can be red or white, but I have only seen the bright, waxy red. All parts of this plant are highly poisonous.

Habitat:

Pacific temperate rain forest of fir, hemlock, maple, alder, and birch.
