Field Notes

Description:

A distinctive deciduous tree with an open crown and spreading, often curved, branches. Bark is grey and smooth on trunk. Leaves are deeply lobed and up to 20cm in length. Fruits ripen to form familiar edible fig.

I know, Ashish, but they're too sweet for me. But it's true, the birds especially love them. And Dan, you can choose both green and black figs!
In late winter we see Fig crop in Pune district of Maharashtra. Its already in my spottings..!!
Dangermouse... you should love Figs... with red core...!! Many figs are not edible as taste issue for Humans, they are not missed by birds and mammals in wild.
Ashish, this is a young tree, growing at the side of a river, not for commerical use at all. Dan, you're missing all the figs at the moment - just coming to the end of the season!

Its not look like commercial fruit plant to take fruit crop. Or its very young plant say about 1 year old.
No, this is a wild one. There are that many locally fresh figs are free if you can be bothered to go and pick them. Only problem is I don't like figs!
Are you growing this? I love figs but fresh figs are expensive here.
