Thanks Karen and Liam. This reserve does have a lot of Nutalls. So I think that I will go with Nutall.
Nuttall's for sure.
Emma, I'm not familiar with many of the north american species outside of Tennessee yet - in fact I'm still coming to terms with some of the local birds, especially the warblers! It doesn't look like a downy so I think you could be right with nuttall's. I can't tell from the photo whether the breast is speckled, if it is maybe an immature ladderback? Sorry I can't be more help. I'm sure Liam will be able to nail it for you!
