Field Notes

Description:

Also known as the African Harrier-Hawk this is a beautiful raptor. They have the ability to bend their legs backwards more than most, which allows them to reach inside of cavities in trees to pull out goodies that others can't reach.

Habitat:

Forest, riverine forest and open broad-leafed woodland

Notes:

This fellow spent quite a while searching for something to eat in this dried up watering hole, then finally flew away.
