Field Notes

Description:

Probably a uniformly colored (i.e. un-lined) lined gecko. The largest of the 5 species seen inside and around my house so far.

Habitat:

Spotted on a sapling flamboyant tree (Delonix regia) in a large semi-urban yard/garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of forest. This is in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Notes:

Geckos recorded at this location so far, include: Hemidactylus frenatus, H. platyurus, H. garnotii (?), Lepidodactylus lugubris and Gekko vittatus.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/unovidual/7807285238/ another specimen of reduced lines...
i agree - g. vittatus without stripes (according to toes, snout, eyes and tubercula scales)
I suppose it could be a "lineless" lined gecko, but mine generally display the line http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/43717088 and http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7042167 and I do not remember even a trace of such...
No. that's a flamboyant (Delonix regia) sapling. Should be blooming next year...
Beautiful Gecko, his skin looks so smooth. Is he hanging in a Papau tree?
