Field Notes

Description:

These fungi were found growing out of wombat droppings in Briagolong state forest in Victoria, Australia. I'm not sure whether they need wombat droppings to grow or not.

Habitat:

Cool, damp rain forest with tree ferns, shrubs and tall eucalyptus trees.

Notes:

All sightings of this fungi were associated with wombat droppings. Not sure if that's a coincidence.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Good fungi. I'd like to ID this one. They probably are herbivore faeces specialists.
