Field Notes

Description:

Yellow or orange legs are diagnostic. Clear pale 'stripe' joins tops of eyes, which have a pale band across them. The facial pattern is very striking. Juveniles are very pale, starting with white and darkening with age. The white abdomen has dark spots at segmental joints. In adults, the abdomen is black with the last two segments being pale blue.

Habitat:

A water stream near a paddy field.

Notes:

Very common insect found in reeds and marshy vegetation of forest streams and ponds from lowlands to mid-hills. Pic #1 juvenile, Pic #2 adult male.
