Wildlife Spotting

I was about to tag this as a yellowjacket, when I realized that its black face and mainly black body aren't typical of the species. Helping with ID would be appreciated. ;) I have a very bad fear of flying insects, so my lens isn't quite long enough for me to stand at a "safe" distance while also getting a well-focused photo. Sorry about that!
