Field Notes

Description:

The Double-crested Cormorant is a large seabird. It is all black except for a batch of orange on the face (near the bill). Some white may be seen in the double crest during breeding season. The hooked bill is an easy method to distinguish from an Anhinga. This spotting is presumably Phalacrocorax auritus floridanus just by location but not verified.

Habitat:

Across North America near water (fresh or salt water).
