Could belong to the Odontoglossum sp. of orchids. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Odontoglossum_cordatum01.jpg Most species are apparently found in Central and West S.America, so that would be a good fit for location.
Like a Acampe sp. find on Giant or medium size trees.
