Field Notes

Description:

Large pink flower, bloom is about the size of a fist in width, leaves and stem are a very dark green. Leaves are rather large, flat, and broad. Bloom is reminiscent of a hibiscus flower. Estimated it to be about a foot, foot and a half tall.

Habitat:

This flower was along a roadside, however it was right on the edge of a swampy area in the Montezuma wildlife refuge. Assuming it prefers swampy areas. Seems to be doing well in areas of dense vegetation.
