Description:
It is widely grown as an ornamental plant throughout the tropics and subtropics. The flowers are large, generally red in the original varieties, and firm, but generally lack any scent.

I find that real Hibiscus is sourced from Central America and there is many real variety spread in their countries. In Asia (mainly India, Indonesia and China) Hibiscus is a commercial plant due to lot of demand in flowers market day to day.
Rosa-sinensis or the Chinese hibiscus is the most common here in the region. We used to crush these and put in soapy solution for better bubble making :-)
